Lightning Shards
Dropped By
  • Rapid Thruster (4%)

Best Farming Spot Pride Lands – Peak

The best place to farm Lightning Shards is to farm Rapid Thrusters at the Peak of Pride Rock in the Pride Lands.

Here’s the best route:

Enter at the Stone Hollow save point, then head out to Pride Rock, into the King’s Chamber, then finally up to the Peak. The first time you enter the Peak, you’ll find one lonely Rapid Thruster. Defeat it and then exit the area.

Keep entering and exiting the area, defeating the single Thruster each time, until a whole cloud of Thrusters appear. There’ll be about 200 or so of them–you can’t miss it.

Then all you have to do is get to work! Lighting kinda works, though the Thrusters are resistant, so your best bet is either to jump up and hope you can hit a few or to use a Magnet spell and suck them up.

Rapid Thrusters are a weaky little foe, so it won’t take much to chew through them.

Once you’ve cleared them out, if you need to do it again, head back to the Stone Hollow save point to leave the world and reset.

Even with their low (4%) drop rate you’ll be fighting so many that you’ll be getting Shards left and right.

Rapid Thrusters

The Rapid Thruster swarm approaches / KH2FM
The Rapid Thruster swarm approaches!

These are the definition of a filler enemy.

They don’t have a lot of HP or defense and their attacks don’t really cause much damage.

They can pose a minor threat if you get swarmed by a lot of them and don’t do anything, but it’s easy to clean them out and heal through whatever damage they may cause.

Fighting them is essentially a do-what-you-want situation. Wisdom Form is cool, using magic is cool–whatever. If there’s a lot of them, the Magnet spell is extremely effective (and super satisfying).

Don’t sweat it too much with Rapid Thrusters.

Bolt Towers

A Bolt Tower being unusually coy.

You can find these tall guys all throughout the many worlds in KH2 – and they have a decent chance of giving you a Lightning Shard.

However, they require a little more finesse to take down.

If you’re hunting them, the best place is the Land of Dragons. They appear in just about every outdoor zone.

When it comes to actually fighting them…aim for the face.

Their little round faces are natural targets. and besides, hitting the tower part does less damage.

It’s best to use physical attacks here. They have a good resistance to magic and are immune to lightning (obviously).

They also channel lighting from their tops and shoot it around. This is a pretty decent AOE attack and can be hard to dodge. If you can catch the Reaction Command, you can channel your inner Sekiro and toss the lighting back at them, dealing not only damage to the Tower, but any other nearby enemies.

Using Lightning Shards

Synthesizing High Drive Recovery / KH2FM
Synthesizing High Drive Recovery

You only need 4 Lightning Shards to make one of everything that requires them.

This is a pretty low number. And the odds are good that you’ll have way more shards than you need by the time you need them.

Still, Drive Recoveries are amazing items and it’s always awesome to have a few on hand. Get to it!
