Frost Stones
Dropped By
  • Grand Ghost (100%)
Best Farming Spot
  • Monstro – Stomach
Bambi Location N/A

The only enemy in the game that drops Frost Stones is the Grand Ghost. This unique Heartless lives in Monstro’s stomach and starts appearing after you’ve beaten the boss and cleared the world.

As with all rare Heartless, you might have to leave and re-enter the stomach a few times in order to make it appear.

Once you’ve beaten the Grand Ghost, you’ll have to leave the world entirely (go to the world map) and come back to respawn.

The Grand Ghost

The Grand Ghost always drops a Frost Stone when you defeat it.

However, beating it requires a little more effort than your normal ‘whack it with your keyblade’ approach.

To damage the Grand Ghost you have to use healing items on it.

Yup! It’s one of those bosses!

Each item you use deals a different amount of damage. As the quality of the item increases, so does the damage.

What item you use also determines what the Ghost will drop. Using high-quality stuff increases the chance that it’ll drop another Frost Stone when you beat it.

In order to use an item on the Ghost, you have to be kinda close. Take care to stay out of the gastric acids that surround the arena. Not only does this yellow stuff cause damage, but it interrupts item usage.

The Grand Ghost has 300 HP. It’s probably the only Heartless that you’ll ever need to know the exact amount of health it has.

And here’s a chart of every healing item in the game + how much damage it’ll do to the Grand Ghost:

Item Used Effect on Grand Ghost
Potion
  • 50 Damage
Hi-Potion
  • 70 Damage
Mega-Potion
  • 100 Damage
  • Increases additional Frost Stone chance by 5%
Ether
  • 20 Damage
  • Stuns the Ghost
  • 30% chance of an Ether dropping
Mega-Ether
  • 50 Damage
  • Stuns the Ghost
  • 30% chance of an Ether dropping
  • Increases additional Frost Stone chance by 10%
Elixir
  • 200 Damage
  • Increases additional Frost Stone chance by 35%
Megalixir
  • 300 Damage
  • 100% chance of an additional Frost Stone drop
  • Adds a 20% chance of a third Frost Stone drop

As you can see, using the primo stuff on the Grand Ghost primes him for maximum Frost Stone drops. However, stuff like Elixirs and Megalixirs aren’t the easiest to come by.

Elixirs alone can be annoying to farm.

Since you only need 7 Frost Stones to make one of everything that requires them, it’s probably less expensive and consumptive to simply beat him with Potions and Hi-Potions seven times.

If your time is worth more than a few Megalixirs though, then have at it!

Again, you only need 7 Frost Stones to make one of everything that requires them via synthesis.

These goods include the Moogle Badge and Goofy’s Seven Elements.

The Crystal Crown is the true prize here, though. It’s a high-end accessory that totally deserves a spot in any endgame build. Maybe even enough to get a few extra Frost Stones…?
