Here’s the best route for farming Lucid Gems:
Enter Radiant Garden through the Merlin’s House save point, then exit to the Borough. In this area you’ll find at least a dozen Bookmasters. Do a lap or two to clear them out and then return to Merlin’s House to exit to the world map & then do it all again.
This is the easiest method by far in KH2. It’s an area loaded with Bookmasters next to a save point. If only all farming could be so convenient!
Though as an alternative you can also head to Space Paranoids to fight Magnum Loaders, but those take a little more doing to get to and aren’t quite as simple to take out.
Bookmaster
These nerds fly around on their oversized books and blast big balls of magic at Sora and Co.
These blasts can do significant damage, and it’s surprisingly easy to get surrounded by Bookmasters.
You may be tempted to use magic to AOE attack these guys, but don’t do that!
Bookmasters are immune to almost all magic. Only Reflect will have any effect – and thank goodness, because it is highly effective.
While your best bet against a Bookmaster is simply to chase it down with your keyblade, using Reflect to either directly damage them or to knock back their energy balls is also a respected strat. Further, time your Reflect right and you can KO multiple bookies in one blast.
At the end of the day, Bookmasters aren’t too bad to battle. But don’t let your guard down.
Avoid magic (it’s useless) and try to stay outside of their groups. They can be surprisingly quick, too, so staying in the air and using Glide and Sora’s Drive Forms can really help keep up.
Magnum Loader
Found only in Space Paranoids, these one-wheeled weirdos are a common enemy that also drop Lucid Gems.
Their rate is lower than Bookmasters and they’re trickier to get to and farm, as getting to Space Paranoids is a whole thing.
Still, if you’re in the area, Magnum Loaders aren’t too hard to beat.
You can find a few of them reliably in the Dataspace area, connected to the east of the Canyon.
Magnum Loaders have one wheel and make good use of it. They zip around and shoot at Sora with fairly low accuracy. They don’t have a lot of HP, so focusing them down is pretty easy, though you might have some trouble hitting them.
Magnet spells work well, though your best bet is to stand still and let them come to you, swatting them down as they do their drive-bys. Overall, they’re kind of a forgettable enemy.
Using Lucid Gems
You only need 2 Lucid Gems to make one of everything that requires them.
The odds are good you’ll end up with way more, which is even better because you can use them to level up your Moogle.
Don’t worry too much about Lucid Gems. They’re easy to farm and you don’t need too many.
