Lightning Stones
Dropped By
  • Emerald Blues (10%)
  • Driller Moles (6%)
Best Farming Spot
  • Land of Dragons – Mountain Trail

The best way to farm Lightning Stones is by defeating Emerald Blues Heartless in the Land of Dragons.

Here’s the best route to follow:

Enter from the Village save point then head through the village and into the Mountain Trail. Head down the trail and along the way you’ll fight a bunch of Emerald Blues. Once you get to the bottom, make your way to the Bamboo Grove save point and start again.

This is the highest concentration of Emerald Blues in KH2 and the easiest farmable route to repeat.

Alternatively, you could also head to the Underworld in Olympus to fight Driller Moles, but that’s less friendly to farming and they have a lower drop rate.

Emerald Blues

In the air with wind magic. Told ya / KH2FM
In the air with wind magic. Told ya!

Because it’s a wind elemental, the Emerald Blues tend to do two things all the time:

Stay in the air and cast wind magic.

They have low physical defense, so you shouldn’t really have a problem just jumping at them and swatting them out of the sky, but if you do, then liberal use of a Magnet spell will help you out.

Emerald Blues surround themselves with an aero shield and dash at Sora as their primary means of attack.

This can knock him back if it connects, but it’s easy enough to jump over.

They also can summon a fairly large AOE tornado that can knock Sora up pretty high and expose him to other attacks. It’s best to focus down any and all Emerald Blues before they can do this–it’s very annoying.

Driller Moles

A Driller Mole is awfully small / KH2FM
A Driller Mole is awfully small…

Putting drills on a mole seems either redundant or very generous.

These little mammalian monsters do pretty much exactly what you’d expect them to: they dig.

They go underground and then emerge violently, causing damage in a small AOE.

Note: Pay attention to Sora’s feet if they’re underground. If you see a dust cloud starting to form, jump away! It’s a tell that the mole is gonna attack (and kind of a silly tell on their part).

They don’t have a lot of HP, so you can just sweep through them with a good Keyblade attack, such as Vicinity Break or Explosion.

Even Donald or Goofy can clean these little guys up.

Using Lightning Stones

Thundaga! Kupo / KH2FM
Thundaga! Kupo!

You only need 4 Lightning Stones to make one of everything that requires them.

What you can make with them is just…okay.

Lots of elemental resistance, but mostly just stuff you have to make to level up your Moogle and move on to better things. Still…not too bad.
