Best Farming Spot
  • Olympus – Cave of the Dead (Passage)

The best way to farm Blazing Stones is to head to the Underworld in Olympus and do laps from the entry save point to the inner save point near Hades’ coliseum.

On the way you’ll fight lots of Tornado Steps, which have an 8% chance of dropping a Stone.

Here’s a couple routes to follow:

Start from the Underworld Entrance save point and make your way through the Passage. There are about ten Tornado Steps in this route, which is plenty of opportunity to earn a stone or two.

Alternatively, you could head to Port Royal and hunt Cannon Guns, but both their appearance and drop rate is lower than Tornado Steps.

Tornado Steps

Tornado Steps are kinda cute / KH2FM
Tornado Steps are kinda cute.

These little dervishes love to spin (exactly what their name suggests).

They can create fairly large AOE wind whirls that can knock Sora around, shooting him either straight up or backwards–both outcomes I’m sure you’d rather avoid.

What makes this extra annoying is that Tornado Steps don’t often appear alone.

They usually show up with either more Steps or other Heartless.

It can be easy to lose track of them in a bigger kerfuffle and suddenly get tossed around by a tornado you either weren’t expecting or didn’t see winding up.

Targeting the Tornado Steps first is a good way to subvert that from happening.

Using a good Keyblade combo works, though magic is no slouch either.

A good tactic is to switch to the Wisdom Drive Form and blast them away before they even have a chance to act.

Cannon Gun

Cannon! Gun! / KH2FM
Cannon! Gun!

These living artilleries live primarily in Port Royal.

They don’t really care for face-to-face combat and much prefer supporting their Heartless comrades from the back.

What this means for Sora is that while he’s busy trying to deal with the local mobs, Cannon Guns will be raining down fireballs from afar.

You can tell where an attack is going to be from the Cannon Gun targeting reticle. There’s not too much time between when the Cannon aims and firing, so be quick in either getting out of the way or delivering a KO.

Due to their ranged nature, it’s best to get rid of Cannon Guns ASAP (though you’re gonna be doing that anyway if you’re farming Blazing Stones).

Up close, Cannon Guns don’t provide much challenge. They don’t have a lot of defense or HP, so just about anything can take them out.

You only need 4 Blazing Stones to craft one of everything that requires them. This is a thankfully low number, so your grind shouldn’t take too long.
