The only Heartless that drops Power Crystals are Wyverns. The best place to farm them is in Traverse Town’s Second District after visiting Hollow Bastion for the first time.
Entering the zone (almost) always spawns three Wyverns, and it’s easy to double back to the First District to heal, save, and reset the enemies.
Wyverns also appear in other worlds, such as Agrabah, Hollow Bastion, and Halloween Town. But these spots aren’t as reliable and their proximity to a save point isn’t quite as close.
Wyverns
These flapping foes rarely every (never) show up alone.
Like most aviary adversaries, they prefer to appear in flocks.
Thunder is the best anti-air magic and Gravity does wonders in bringing these boys to the ground.
When battling Wyverns, it’s also important to stay outside of the group. Getting caught in the center can easily bring your HP to zero.
Casting Stop makes them easy pickings and Thunder right away is a great tactic to speed up the farm.
Using Power Crystals
You only need 3 Power Crystals to make one of everything that requires them.
It’s a very small amount, so even with the low drop rate, you’ll have what you need in a short amount of time.
Elixirs and Defense Ups are useful, sure. But both are time-consuming to make (and elixirs can be farmed easier in other locations).
The real prize here is the Crystal Crown, which is one of the best endgame pieces of equipment there is. It has a huge HP boost and bolsters the rest of your stats very well.
