TGS 2013 Recap: Day 1

Tokyo Game Show 2013 is in full swing, and Square-Enix is in no shortage of new games and announcements this year! While the thoughts on everyone’s minds were of possible Kingdom Hearts III news and maybe even a confirmation of the long-rumored Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX, it’s still good to know that Square is hard at work churning out great titles to wet our appetites while we wait.

Kingdom Hearts χ

First and foremost, there was a bit of new Kingdom Hearts news at Tokyo Game Show. Specifically, Kingdom Hearts χ got a new trailer showcasing the different worlds and cards available in the game. You can check it out below, thanks to KH Ultimania.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remastered

The FFX/X-2 remaster got some spotlight today, with a new trailer featuring overdrives and summons from FFX, as well as the dress spheres from FFX-2. Perhaps even more interesting than that is the vague release date that is featured at the end of the trailer. The game has officially been confirmed to be released (at least in North America) in Winter of 2013. You can check out the trailer below, curtesy of

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Lightning Returns (more commonly referred to as XIII-3) got a new trailer today as well, showing off some returning characters like Yuell and Caius. You can check the trailer out below, also thanks to GameSpot.

Final Fantasy XV

Though the trailer released for Final Fantasy XV isn’t all that different from the trailer that was released alongside Kingdom Hearts III at E3 this past summer. Still, it’s nice to see a game that so many people have been waiting a long time for make a public appearance again. You can check it out below, once again curtesy of GameSpot.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is getting a sequel featuring more characters, more gameplay modes, and most importantly of all, more songs! “To Zanarkand” and “One-Winged Angel – Advent” are just a couple of tracks off of the impressive new collection of songs to play through, and the new game modes like the multiplayer “Versus Mode” offers all kinds of possibilities. You can view the trailer below, thanks to IGN.

Day 2 of Tokyo Game Show is coming tomorrow, and there’s bound to be even more news (possibly on Kingdom Hearts III, which is rumored to be in Square’s TGS line-up for this year), so check back tomorrow night for another roundup of Square-Enix goodness!
